How it works
The KAIROS challenge is aimed at all skaters being able to get involved, whether you are new to skating or a veteran, whether you are involved in one of the many skating disciplines or whether you just skate for fun. We want our event to be a mix of social skating, to being together the many people of skating at one event and let them date together for fun, fitness and to test themselves against their former selves!
We test each track and authorise the track for our events before we allow the KAIROS challenge name be applied to the event. This way, you know that each event will be run in a very similar way, with skating and skaters as the focus.
For that reason we do everything we can to normalise and equalise the playing field at each location.
The way we do this is by doing a test run of each track before we authorise it for one of our events. We send a skater out at a controlled pace for 3 x 5km runs and gain an average time for this course.
This ensures that we have the ability to provide what we call a track advantage percentage to each track so that when you skate any of our event tracks you aren’t penalised for your track being a more difficult track than others. This is how we work to grade your time against every other time across the country.
On the results sheet, you will see the track advantage percentage number, which tells you what percentage is applied to your time to even out differences in tracks and therefore, times.
